For example, for help regarding connecting a smart thermostat, please include details about your system including whether you have gas/electric, heat pump, number of heat stages, A/C condenser, etc.

Looks like it'll do 802.11 b/g/n for wifi and FHSS in the 900+MHz range (which I assume is for remote sensors). Still relies on 24vac power, so not battery operated.

Maybe this is a rebranding (and hardware redesign using cheaper parts, like "slim" video game consoles) of the current Ecobee3 in preparation for a new model with more capability...?
